Position summary
Reporting to the senior accountant, the financial analyst supports financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and analysis in accordance with the
Public Sector Accounting Standards
(PSAS) and supports financial planning and reporting functions through the application of strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
This role is responsible for completing assigned periodic supporting schedules and assisting with financial reporting, modelling, and scenario analysis.
The financial analyst is expected to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
Duties and responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to the following:
Financial planning and reporting
assists in budget planning and forecasting activities
prepares periodic reporting and forecasting, including variance analysis
prepares monthly cost allocations across departments, programs, and projects using prescribed metrics
liaises with the departments to support budget planning
supports salaries and benefits forecasting and analysis
liaises with other regulatory bodies required for benchmarking of licence fees, contractor rates and other relevant data
