Introduction:
Join our dedicated team as a Field Engineer – Power Systems, where you will support power generation facilities across Canada through hands‑on field testing, advanced analytical modeling, and regulatory compliance work. ENTRUST Solutions Group Canada is an industry leader in the power generation industry, known for its technical depth and ability to support assets ranging from small facilities to some of the largest generation plants in the country. In this role, you will be at the forefront of generator testing, modeling, and compliance initiatives, ensuring the safe, reliable, and compliant operation of critical power system infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
This role blends in‑plant, hands‑on engineering with advanced analytical work performed remotely from your home office.
This position is remote but requires travel.
Under the guidance of a Senior Engineer, you will lead on‑site generator testing at hydroelectric, gas, steam, and nuclear power plants, directing plant operators through complex testing procedures and making real‑time engineering decisions. You will install, validate, and troubleshoot high‑precision data acquisition equipment, analyze test data using proprietary internal tools, and ensure safety, quality, and procedural compliance. Outside of field assignments, you will develop generator, exciter, and control system models, perform detailed power system studies, prepare NERC compliance reports, and contribute subject‑matter expertise in generator dynamics, simulation, and control systems while coordinating with utilities, ISOs, OEMs, and plant engineering teams.

$33–40 per hour
and is a non‑exempt position. The specific amount within this range will be influenced by the work location and various factors, such as internal equity, professional skills, work experience, and pertinent education or training. Benefits offered include company‑sponsored medical, dental, vision, and retirement programs. Also offered are tuition reimbursement, voluntary life, disability, critical illness, accident and hospitalization plans. These benefits are subject to employee contribution amounts generally set annually. Full‑time employees are eligible to earn vacation hours. May be eligible for discretionary bonus as determined by the company.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
Relevant engineering experience in power systems analysis, generator modeling, field testing or commissioning, or control and excitation systems.
Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada (P.Eng.) or eligible for licensure.
Strong understanding of synchronous generators, excitation systems, and power system stability.
Advanced experience with MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, PSS®E, or equivalent power system analysis tools.
Strong technical writing, reporting, and documentation skills.
Ability to travel to client sites across Canada up to 30% of the time.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience developing engineering tools or software using Python, C/C++, or similar languages.
Hands‑on experience with generator controls, protection systems, or commissioning activities.
Familiarity with NERC MOD and PRC standards or similar regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and on‑site decision‑making capabilities.
Residence within approximately one hour of a major Canadian airport.
