Position Summary
The Junior Accountant supports daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and compliance activities. This role works closely with the Finance Manager and Accounting Supervisor to ensure accurate financial records and timely reporting in a fast-paced logistics environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Accounting & Bookkeeping
Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) transactions
Prepare and record journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy
Assist in bank and account reconciliations
2. Financial Reporting
Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end closing processes
Assist in preparing financial reports and supporting schedules
Maintain organized financial documentation and audit trails
3. Cash & Expense Management
Monitor daily cash transactions and assist in cash flow tracking
Review and process employee expense reimbursements
Ensure proper documentation and policy compliance
4. Tax & Compliance
Assist with GST/HST filings and other statutory requirements
Support external audits and tax filings
Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards and regulations
5. Process Improvement & Support
Help improve accounting processes and internal controls
Support ERP/accounting system updates and data accuracy
Provide general administrative support to the finance team
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
0–2 years of accounting experience (internship acceptable)
Basic understanding of Canadian accounting principles
Proficiency in Excel; experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) preferred
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
Experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain industry
Working toward CPA designation (or interest in pursuing)
Bilingual English + Chinese or Spanish is a strong asset
