In accordance with established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, reporting directly to the Program Lead, the Northern Emergency Response Team (NERT) and Virtual Support Nurse practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model. In accordance with the objectives, established policies, procedures, and protocols of the NH Access, Flow, and Transfer Services, the primary responsibility of the Nurse is to perform interfacility transfers alongside BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) paramedics and to provide in-the-moment real time advice and mentorship for Rural Emergency Department nurses managing complex patients via an established virtual network.
