The Opportunity
The Senior Business Analyst (SBA) plays a critical role in bridging business strategy and technology delivery. This role focuses on a deep understanding of business challenges, regulatory and operational requirements, and translating them into clear, actionable requirements and solution designs for delivery teams. The SBA is a trusted advisor to business leaders, ensuring that technology solutions are driven by business value, practicality, and long-term organizational outcomes.
This role emphasizes business insight, problem-solving, and solution design, rather than hands-on technical implementation.
Duties and Responsibilities
Partner with business leaders and stakeholders to understand strategic priorities, operational challenges, and regulatory requirements
Analyze complex business problems and identify practical, value-driven solutions aligned with organizational objectives
Define future-state business processes, capabilities, and operating models
Translate business needs into clear, structured requirements (e.g., business requirements, functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria)
Ensure proposed solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with business priorities and constraints
Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams
Translate business concepts, policies, and processes into technical items that development teams can understand and implement
Work collaboratively with architects, developers, and vendors to ensure business intent is accurately reflected in technical designs
Facilitate workshops, interviews, and working sessions to elicit requirements and validate solutions
Challenge assumptions and help stakeholders clarify what problem they are truly trying to solve
Provide clear, concise recommendations to senior leaders, supported by analysis and business rationale
Manage stakeholder expectations by balancing business needs, timelines, risks, and delivery capacity
Ensure requirements are traceable to business outcomes and strategic objectives
Support business case development, cost-benefit analysis, and impact assessments
Validate delivered solutions against business requirements and expected outcomes
Identify opportunities for process improvement, simplification, and efficiency
Qualifications and Experience
7+ years of progressive experience in business analysis, solution design, or business consulting roles
Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Economics, Public Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
IIBA CBAP certification an asset
Proven experience translating complex business problems into structured, actionable requirements
Strong understanding of business operations, process design, and organizational change
Exceptional ability to understand and articulate business needs, risks, and opportunities
Ability to design solutions that balance business value, practicality, and sustainability
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Ability to influence without authority and build strong relationships across business and technology teams
Skilled facilitator of discussions involving diverse perspectives and competing priorities
Minimum to Midpoint Salary Range: $98,046 - $122,558 per annum.
Upon hire, new employees will be placed in a starting salary between the minimum and P50 (midpoint) of the salary range. The P50 of the range represents an employee that possesses full job knowledge, qualifications, and experience for the position.
